Thank you and Happy New Year!

As we wave bye to 2011, I want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has read, commented and supported "With Each Passing Day." Thank you to Jessy of The Little Dust Princess, Kelly of Alternations Needed and Jean of Extra Petite for their support and for mentioning me in their blogs.

I'm humbled and blessed by the support and encouragement from all of you. =) Saying thank you can't really express my deepest gratitude. I wish you all a very happy, healthy, prosperous and fabulous new year. Take care, have fun, and be safe with your New Year celebration!

Post Christmas Shopping

I went to the mall after Christmas to return a few items and, of course, to see if there were any good deals. This year the deals felt like they were "meh." I feel like the deals last year were better.  I stopped by Banana Republic since they were having a "get an additional 30% off of on sale items." I didn't see anything that really stood out to me and was about to walk out the store when I noticed the cardigan. It's on sale for $27.99 with an additional 30% = $19.59 The cardigan didn't look like anything special on the hanger but since I didn't have a cardigan in that color I thought "why not try it out to see how it would look on me." I ended up buying it along with a white cami. The cardigan is made of Italian yarn which consists of 47% wool, 45% nylon, and 8% cashmere. It's a thicker cardigan that's nice to have when the weather gets colder but, unfortunately, it's not as soft as it looks and may feel a little scratchy for some people. For me it's not too bad.  It looked better on me then it did on the hanger, or at least I should hope so =).

Cardigan: Banana Republic Gold Button Cardigan in Sangria XP
Cami: Banana Republic
Skirt: Ann Taylor Snow Flower Lace Skirt - OP
Belt: The Limited
Shoe:  Aldo Nude Pump old -6

I love anything with lace so I was pretty happy when I saw this skirt at Ann Taylor. It retails for $128. I really loved the design and details on it but it was too pricey for me, even at 50% off the retail price. So when I received my $20 rewards card I knew I had to go and get it. The material of the skirt is made from 76% nylon and 24% polyester. It is little stiff and doesn't allow much room for stretching. My only complaint is it that for such an expensive skirt it doesn't have a lining.

Petite Secret Santa Exchange 2011 Revealed!

Happy Holiday!
I love Secret Santa so when Jess of The Little Dust Princess asked the petite bloggers on twitter who want to participated in the Petite Secret Santa gift exchange I asked if I could join even though I wasn't a blogger yet. Jess was so sweet and allowed me to join. A huge thanks to Jess who organized the whole thing through a niffy website Elfster.  Elfster provided us the opportunity to ask our Secret Santa anonymous Q&A's so that we could get an idea of what would be on their wishlist. How neat is that!

So who was my Secret Santa?... a week after the scheduled date to mail the gift to our Secret Santa, Kelly of Alternations Needed contacted me to meet up for coffee or tea. Kelly and I had originally planned to attend a beauty event that Saturday but she ended up not being able to attend.  The first time I met Kelly was when I won her Bangle Bracelets for Small Wrist giveaway back in April 2011 and have ran into her a few time since then. Not only is Kelly smart, she is one of the sweetest person you'll ever met. Meeting up with Kelly is like getting together with a long time good friend.

I suspected that she was my Secret Santa since she mentioned that she had something for me. Well it turns out she was my Secret Santa. =). Kelly did a wonderful job shopping for my gift. She got me a cashmere polka dot scarf.. My first cashmere item ever!  It's so soft. I love the scarf to death.  How beautiful is the scarf? And the best thing is that the scarf has two different shade of blues. In addition to the scarf I got a Asian bumpit that I wanted after seeing Jean of Extra Petite Hair Tutorial: Voluminous Puffy Bun. =) I can't wait to try it out. Thank you to amazing Secret Santa, Kelly! I love my gifts.

So who did I get for my Secret Santa..... I got Jean of Extra Petite! I was so excited but nervous at the same time. I was thinking "What do you get for the girl who has amazing tastes and probably has everything she wants already?" To see what I got her check our her blog. =) I hope she likes her gifts. *Keeps my fingers crossed.*

Thanks to Jessy for hosting the event and all the ladies who participated this year. Check Jessy's blog to see the other Secret Santa participants. I can't wait to see what everyone got.

Red, Lace and Pho

Wearing:
Top: Forever 21 Chantilly Lace Dress wore as a top -S
Skirt: Express Ultimate Double Weave Pocket Pencil Skirt in Mars Red - OO
Shoe: Loft Wendy Suede Round Toe Wedge -5.5
Necklace: Loft Collection Rhinestone and Chain Link Bib Necklace

Armed with the new camera my husband gave me, I dragged him out to Balboa Park to take my first outfit. I love the idea of a lace top paired with a red skirt. I was on the lookout for a red skirt and found this at Express. I usually wear a size 0 but it seems that Express has changed their sizing and size 0 is too loose on me now. For reference I'm 4'11, 32-23-34. I love the skirt and look forward to finding different clothes to pair with it. My only complaint is that because the skirt is 49% Polyester, 47% Cotton, and 4% Spandex, it wrinkles very easily.   For more ways on what to wear with a red skirt check out the beautiful and talented Jean's  Extra Petite blog.

For my husband's reward for helping with my first outfit post, I treated him to his favorite food, Pho. If he could, my husband would have Pho every day. =)

The Start of Something New

I'm just a simple petite girl who is a late bloomer when it comes to fashion. Discovering the petite community through Alterations Needed has helped me so much with styling and finding clothes that fit better. With my husband going to school fulltime, raising two kids, and a limited budget; I have to make smart decisions when I go shopping. This is my adventure about learning how to dress better, finding good deals, and doing it on a limited budget. =)
